Simple Planning Tool V2.2 Release and Upcoming Webinar

A new version of the Simple Planning Tool for Climate Hazards (SPT) is now available. In July 2026, we released version 2.1 that included additional hazard tools, a revamped section focused on hazard mitigation and resilience actions, and other helpful resources. Version 2.2 includes updated climate change summaries for each hazard, tailored to each state. Found under the Climate Change Trends portion of each hazard section, these summaries consist of 1-2 paragraphs that concisely describe the state of the science on how hazard trends may change in the future. Because of Texas’s geographic size and diverse climate, Texas summaries are presented in three regions. If needed, you can dive deeper into the literature by finding all citations in the Acknowledgements and References section of the SPT. Additional information can also be found in the Climate Change Science and Projections Resources section.

The updates in SPT version 2.2 will help communities and organizations to quickly assess how hazards may change in the future and serve as a useful resource to better integrate weather and climate information into future planning.

Please join us for a webinar on Tuesday, December 1st, 2026, from 10:00 AM-10:45 AM as we provide an overview of the SPT, share changes you’ll find in recent updates, and demonstrate a few tool examples. Audience members will have time for Q&A at the end of the webinar. The webinar will be recorded and uploaded to our Events page and to our YouTube page.
